Settle it with a spin, right in the channel.
Type /spinny, choose who is playing, and let Spinny decide who buys coffee, who demos first, or who takes Friday’s on-call.
How it works
- 1Type /spinny
In any channel, optionally with what you are deciding: /spinny who buys coffee.
- 2Pick the players
Choose people by hand, or add every channel member and remove whoever is sitting this one out.
- 3Spin
Right in the channel, or on a full-size wheel on the web with everyone’s profile photo.
- 4Look back
Every game is kept for 90 days, so the channel can check who went last time.
What the channel sees
Small decisions, settled fairly
Drawn once, on the server
A cryptographically secure random number generator picks the result. Two people pressing Spin at the same moment still get one result.
Winners or an order
Pick one or several winners, or shuffle everyone into a running order for stand-ups and demos.
A bigger wheel on the web
Open the game in the browser to spin a wheel with names and photos, then the result goes back to the Slack message.
Bots can play too
Other apps’ bots join like anyone else. Deactivated accounts are left out on their own.
Your workspace only
The web pages ask you to sign in with Slack and show games only to people from the same workspace.
Gone when you are done
Games are deleted after 90 days, and uninstalling removes everything Spinny holds about your workspace.
Private channel?
Invite Spinny first with /invite @Spinny. In public channels it works without an invite.
